In Tribute

Helen Stella Paradise

We are pleased to display a brief photo retrospective of the Taishindoh works of Grandmaster Helen Paradise showing highlights of her Martial Arts career dating from 1966 to the present. In my opinion, her forty (40) year career in Taishindoh and Martial Arts in general was truly Pioneer status. While Helen did not seek out publicity, fame found her as a result of her dedication to teaching, her students, her humility and her character.

Helen was a true Pioneer in Martial Arts! Not only was she an excellent and dynamic teacher and student of Taishindoh, she was a passionate advocate for Self Defense “empowerment” training for women and dedicated much of her career to that cause.

A Testament to her love and skill in Taishindoh and Martial Arts in general came not only from the Media, ie: TV, Radio as well as Print, but more so from her students! The number of Black Belts she trained and developed, and especially women who trained in her “Defensercize” and Common Sense Self Defense programs and learned under her tutelage, as well as other countless lives she touched during her life and career was evidenced by the more than One Thousand (1000) people who attended her Funeral.
